Shown here are PC engine #2256 and Southern Pacific Railroad engine #4068. Both were built by GM-EMD. #2256 is a radio-equipped GP-35 built in May of 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #4068 is a GP-20 built in 1962 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. They are pulling a westbound autorack train. Lots of new Chrysler products on-board! Also visible on the right are my Penn State geology buddies George Howorth and John "Rob" Powanda. They are pulling a westbound merchandise train past WORKS Tower. What is notable, here, is that this train is on one of the "passenger" tracks and will not stop in Altoona to change crews. In 1965, this was the exception; nowadays, it is the norm.
