Description:  Here is a photo of Long Island Railroad engine #345 ~ consisting of #345-A on the right, and #345-B on the left. Both are DD-1's (2-B+B-2) built in Juniata during June of 1911 and rated at 3,160 horsepower. They first served on the Pennsylvania Railroad, but were transferred to the Long Island Rail Road in December of 1927. #345-A was originally numbered "3944," while #345-B was originally numbered "3946." Depicted here are PRR engines #6556, #3976-3977, and #3914-3915. All were built in Juniata. Engine #6556 is a C-1 (0-8-0) switcher built in May of 1925 and retired in January of 1949. Engines #3976-3977 are DD-1's (2-B+B-2) built in July of 1910 and rated at 3,160 horsepower; #3976 was transferred to the Long Island Rail Road in April of 1928 and renumbered "350-B," but #3977 was retired in January of 1949. Engines #3914-3915 are B-1 (C) electric switchers built in June of 1926 and rated at 570 horsepower each; #3914 was retired in December of 1962, while #3915 was retired in January of 1963.

Description:  RRMP. Here is an original photo that I took at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania in Strasburg, Pennsylvania, on 30 June 1973. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4781 and #4780. They are permanently-linked DD-1's built in Juniata during May of 1911 and rated at 3,160 horsepower. #4781's original number was "3937," while #4780's was "3936." According to the RRMP, "The Museum is home to DD-1's Nos. 3937 and 3936, built in 1911. These two locomotives formed a married pair and operated in the tunnels beneath the Hudson River between New Jersey and New York City until being relegated to yard work in 1924." Visible in the background is one of the RRMP's exhibit halls during its construction.
