7th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 08 March 1964. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7132, #9802-B, and #7004. All were built by EMD. #7132 and #7004 are EFS-17M's rated at 1,750 horsepower each; #7132 was built in 1957, but #7004 was built in 1955. #9802-B is an EF-15A built in 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are pulling a mixed-cargo freight train under the 7th Bridge on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Also visible (L to R) are some of the PRR's Passenger Car Shops, the old steel water tower, the 4th Street Bridge, and several other westound freight trains awaiting crews and orders to proceed.

All were built by EMD. #7026 is an EFS-17M built in 1955 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. #9660 and #9819 are EF-15A's rated at 1,500 horsepower each; #9660 was built in 1950, but #9819 was built in 1951. They are pulling a 128-car westbound mixed-cargo freight train with N-8 caboose #478039, plus pusher engines #8613 and #8614. This train is "sandwiched" in-between two moving trains: an eastbound coal train on the right, and a 129-car westbound mixed-cargo freight train on the left. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken near Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, during July of 1963. The photographer is not identified. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #7102, #7041, and three more "Geeps" whose numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7102 was built in November of 1956, while #7041 was built in December of 1955. In this context, they've just passed AR Tower and are about to enter the single-tracked New Portage Tunnel on their way down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Altoona and points East. Derailment. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 21 May 1965. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #7057, #7197-B, #7042, and #2261. All were built by EMD. #7057, #7197-B and #7042 are EFS-17M's and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7057 was built in 1956, #7197-B was built in 1957, while #7042 was built in 1955. #2261 is an EF-25 built in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They have just come down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve with a 57-car TrucTrain and are passing the derailment site with caution. The caboose is #477954. Visible in the background (L to R) are the PRR Test Plant Building and the 17th Street Bridge.

They are pulling an eastbound coal train and are about to pass under the 12th Street Bridge. Note that the eastbound coal train pulled by PRR engine #9530 has stopped on the far left track.
