They are pulling an eastbound coal train and are about to pass under the 12th Street Bridge. Note that the eastbound coal train pulled by PRR engine #9530 has stopped on the far left track.

They're passing BANKS Tower with a train of empty hoppers bound for Altoona and the coal mines in Western Pennsylvania. Blue Mountain dominates the distance.

The single smoke stack marks the location of the PRR's 12th Street Car Shops.

These three locomotives and a 77-car mixed-cargo freight train are stopped at 3rd Street in Duncansville, awaiting orders to proceed up the New Portage Branch Line to Gallitzin and points West. Once upon a time, there were four sets of tracks at this point ~ as evidenced by the wide signal bridge. This is also where an eastbound freight train that had lost its brakes coming down the New Portage Branch Line crashed into several waiting locomotives on Sunday, 06 November 1916.
