Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9777, an EF-15A built by GM-EMD in January of 1951 and rated at !,500 horsepower. In this context, it's rounding the Curve with a freight train that's on its way up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. (#23 of 25)

PRR 9683, EH-15, 1966
Title:  PRR 9683, EH-15, 1966
Description:  Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, during mid-May of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #9683 and #9777. Both locomotives were built by EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9683 is an EH-15 built in 1949, while #9777 is an EF-15A built in 1951. They are pulling an eastbound mixed-cargo freight around the Horseshoe Curve and down to Altoona and points East.

PRR 9778, EF-15A, c. 1959
Title:  PRR 9778, EF-15A, c. 1959
Description:  Oil Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of (L to R) Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9778 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #9778 is an EF-15A constructed in February of 1951. Looks to me like this photo was taken from the last car of a train moving in the same direction. The photographer's name, the date, and the location are not recorded. Produced and distributed by FJC Products of Newport, Delaware.
