Description:  Myers. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by William J. Myers that was taken in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, c. 1967. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4927, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric built in Juniata during of September of 1942, rated at 4,620 horsepower, and presently on display at the Illinois Railroad Museum in Union. In this context, it's about to depart the Harrisburg Station with an eastbound passenger train. Wave to the Engineman! This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Electrified Operations On The Pennsy" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (791-22).

Description:  Here is page nine of a ten-page article by Alan B. Chesley & Tony Koester entitled "The Enduring GG1." It was published originally in the December 1975 issue of "Railroad Model Craftsman" magazine, page 60. Caption For All Photos: "Air intake grilles for the traction motor/transformer cooling blowers of 4801-4938 were at first flush with Loewy-styled sides as on 4927 (top), but later got 'rim' and were finally moved up adjacent to pan due to snow ingestion problems." Cross-sectional drawings by Mr. Chesley are "Full size for O scale: 1/4" = 1'-0"; 1-48"
