Title:
PRR 9451, FF-16, 1964
Description:
17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 April 1964. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #9451, #9654-B, and #9803. #9451 is an FF-16 built by Fairbanks-Morse in 1950 and rated at 1,600 horsepower. #9654-B is an EH-15 built by EMD in 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. #9803 is an EF-15A built by EMD in 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. They are passing ALTO Tower with a 66-car mixed-cargo freight train on their way to the Altoona Yards. The caboose is #477395. The beginning of the double-tracked branch line to Hollidaysburg and the New Portage/Muleshoe Curve Secondary Track is visible at the lower left. This photo taken from the 17th Street Bridge.
