Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #6309, #5861, #5860-B, and #5838. #6309 is an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,750 horsepower; it is the "helper" engine in this context. #5861 and #5860-B are EP-20's built by EMD in 1948 and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5838 is an EP-22 built by EMD in 1951 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. They are pulling a 13-car passenger train up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Pittsburgh and points West. This photo taken from the steps of SLOPE Tower. |
