To obtain this picture, walkie-talkie communication was set up to control lighting of 118 of 704 windows on the east face of the building. This exposure was made at 7:45 p.m. daylight time, August 31, 1957."

Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #9710 and another "BF" Class unit whose road number is not recorded. #9710 is a BF-16 built in December of 1950, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 16 years of service. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6737 and #5841. #6737 is an M-1A (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during June of 1930 and retired in August of 1955. #5841 is an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in August of 1947, rated at 2,000 horsepower, and renumbered "4241" in 1966.

Top Photo, Partial Caption: "PC (ex-PRR) snappers U-25c #6511 and SD-35 #6032 earning their keep on a westbound freight ascending Horseshoe Curve on March 2, 1969." Both "snappers" were built in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. Penn Central engine #6511 was built by General Electric, but #6032 was built by GM-EMD. Bottom Photo, Partial Caption: "Here, a mixed lashup of six diesels descends while one of the Pennsy's 'patented' mail and express trains (with a few coaches thrown in at the end) climbs westbound with EMD passenger units in charge. June 1966." The last of the six eastbound diesels is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9829, an EF-15A built by GM-EMD in 1951 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. Both photos by Ken Murry.
