Album Info:Here are the front cover and a 16-page cover story by Mr. William L. Rohde entitled "Sunnyside Yard." They were published originally in the May 1948 issue of "Railroad" magazine, pages 10-25. I've also included two original photos of Sunnyside Yard that I took while riding a Long Island Rail Road train from Penn Station, New York, to the World's Fair during August of 1965. "The world's largest passenger car yard is situated on an island, yet it services approximately nine hundred cars every twenty-four hours." (Page 10)

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5696, a B-1 (0-C-0) switcher built in Juniata during January of 1935, rated at 570 horsepower, and retired in December of 1963 after 28 years of faithful service.

The "Seaboard speedster" in the foreground is actually heading toward the ESB, which is only a couple of blocks away from Pennsylvania Station in Manhattan.
