Title:
PRR 703, L-1S, c. 1955
Description:
Coal Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Walter Dance that was taken in Phoenixville, Pennsylvania. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #703, an L-1S (2-8-2) "Mikado" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1910 and retired in December of 1955 after 45 years of faithful service. In this context, it's about to pass PHOENIXVILLE Tower with a long string of hopper cars. The exact date is not recorded.
