Title:
PRR 830, K-4S, 1957
Description:
Chione. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Al Chione that was taken in South Amboy, New Jersey, on 27 August 1957. The photographer is not identified. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #830, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during July of 1917 and retired in April of 1958 after 41 years of faithful service. Partially visible in the background is PRR engine #5643, an AS-10 switcher built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1950 , rated at 1,000 horsepower, and retired in May of 1965 after just 15 years of service.
