Title:
PRR Eastbound Freight, c. 1946
Description:
Baera HC. Here is the fifth of twelve original photos by an unidentified photographer that were taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1946. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6836, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in September of 1926 and retired in February of 1950 after 24 years of service. It's pulling a mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. (Track 1)
