Here is a photo taken by Mr. W.A. Burke. It was published originally in the April 1956 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 8. Photo Caption: "Over-all coat of aluminum paint, tuscan red stripe, black roof and lettering clothe one of Pennsy's famous GG-1's ~ one of two given different experimental color schemes. Locomotives are being used on crack streamliners." Shown here is PRR engine #4866, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata during January of 1938 and rated at 4,620 horsepower.

Description:
Kern. Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 4866." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "North Philadelphia, Pa., May 12, 1956. GG-1 4866 glides along the platform for the station stop. Pennsylvania 4866 was one of three GG-1's to receive the silver color scheme. The other two were 4872 and 4880. Color was chosen for 'Congressional' service." Photo by Fred R. Kern. #4866 is a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata during January of 1938 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. Here, it's pulling a passenger train that originated in New York City. Visible in the background is a portion of the passenger shelter at the first station stop on the Cherry Hill Branch.

Description:
WIL-ALT-65. Here is an original photo that I took during a trip on Pennsylvania Railroad passenger trains from Wilmington to Altoona on 28 March 1965. Shown here is PRR engine #4866, a GG-1 built in Juniata during January of 1938. It is arriving in the North Philadelphia Station with a 14-car passenger train from Washington to New York City. The time is 12:23 P.M.
