Title:
PRR 2429, AF-25, 1965
Description:
Spruce Creek. Here is the second of eight successive photos that I took in Spruce Creek, Pennsylvania, on 10 July 1965. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2429, #2544, and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #2429 is an AF-25 built by the American Locomotive Company in March of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2544 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in February of 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. In this context, they're passing over the State Route 45 tunnel with a fully-loaded iron ore train out of Enola that's heading to the steel mills of Pittsburgh.

Title:
PRR 2529, GF-25, 1965
Description:
Altoona Action. Here is an original 35mm color slide by Frank Ries that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in August of 1965. Prominent here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2529 and #2544. Both are GF-25's built by General Electric and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #2529 was constructed in September of 1964, while #2544 was built in February of 1965. Partially visible at the left is PRR passenger coach #3000, newly refurbished in Altoona's Passenger Car Shops. Partially visible at the right is the 7th Street Bridge. The photographer is standing on the decrepit remnants of 9th Avenue; Conway is to his left, Enola is to his right.

PRR 2502, GF-25, 1966
Description:
Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in mid-May of 1966. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2502, #2544, and #2507. All three are GF-25's built by General Electric and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #2502 was built in August of 1962, #2544 in February of 1965, and #2507 in September of 1962. They're pulling a mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East.
