Here is page four of a 78-page booklet published by Harry P. Albrecht entitled "Those Amazing Class 'D' Locomotives." It was issued originally in June of 1981. Shown here is engine #513, a 4-4-0 "American" built in the Altoona Machine Shops as Pennsylvania Railroad D-1 number "54" during September of 1868 and sold to the Olean, Oswayo, & Eastern Railroad in 1893. It's the very first standard "American" class steam locomotive produced in Altoona. |
