Here is the first of three successive original photos by Douglas C. Jones that were taken at the Coaling Tipple in East Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Prominent here is the front end of Pennsylvania Railroad engine #830, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during July of 1917 and retired in April of 1958. Partially visible at the far right is PRR engine #6831, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1926 and retired in August of 1955. |
