4th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pittsburgh & West Virginia Railroad locomotive in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during January of 1961. Shown here is P&WV engine #40, an AS-616 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in May of 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower; it was being leased by the PRR. Its crew is switching cars in the Eastbound Receiving Yard. Photo taken from the 4th Street Footbridge. ("Red Shift" slide converted to Black & White.) |
