Horseshoe Curve-1966. Here is an original photo that I took at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, during mid-May of 1966. Shown here is PRR engine #6308 and two other units whose numbers are not visible. #6308 is an AF-27 built by the American Locomotive Company in 1965 and rated at 2,700 horsepower. They are returning to East Altoona for another run up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and back. |
