Here is page 20 of a 22-page article by William Moedinger, Jr., entitled "Railroads Of Pennsylvania." It was published originally in the October 1942 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 31. Bottom Photo Caption: "Favorite fan trip out of Philadelphia always includes a run over the PRR Downingtown-Lancaster Branch. Here the 1941 version stopped at the grade crossing with Reading's Coatesville Branch. The point, too small for most maps, is called Suplee, Pa." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5713, a G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler" built in Juniata in September of 1924 and retired in March of 1950 after 26 years of faithful service. |
