AMTK 590, SDP40F, 1976
Title:  AMTK 590, SDP40F, 1976
Description:  AHC. Here is an original photo by Larry Moss that was taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 11 October 1976. Prominent here are AMTK engines #590 and #470-B. Both were built by GM-EMD. #590 is an SDP40F constructed in May of 1974 and rated at 3,000 horsepower. #470 is an E-9B built originally for the Union Pacific Railroad in October of 1955 and rated at 2,400 horsepower. They're rounding the Curve with a passenger train on its way down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona and points East. This photo was taken during the time when Track 2 was being removed, hence the presence of the maintenance-of-way equipment parked there.
