C`ption On Reverse: "On September 13, 1970, a swift Penn Central westbound passenger train is nearing Horseshoe Curve behind two E-8A's. The train is passing a C-630/SD-45 helper set. Photo by David P. Oroszi." PC #4303 is ex-PRR #5903, an EP-22 built by GM-EMD in March of 1951 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. PC #6319 is ex-PRR #6319, an AF-30 built by the American Locomotive Company in October of 1966 and rated at 3,000 horsepower. |

Byerly. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Fred Byerly that was taken in Syracuse, New York, c. 1969. The photographer is not identified. Photo Caption: "Alco C-630 #6329, 3000-hp, at Syracuse, N.Y." Shown here is Penn Central Railroad engine #6329, a C630 built by the American Locomotive Company as PRR number "6329" in December of 1966, rated at 3,000 horsepower, and retained the number "6329" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger; it was also the last of the PRR's super-ALCo's. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Diesels On The Pennsylvania" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (819-43). |
