Shown here is Penn Central Railroad engine #1455, an F7A built by GM-EMD as PRR number "9668" in March of 1949, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and renumbered "1455" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Diesels On The Pennsylvania" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (819-49).

Description:  Altoona Action. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Altoona, Pennsylvania, in April of 1969. Shown here (L to R) are Penn Central Railroad engines #4352 and #1514. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #4352 is an FP7A built as Pennsylvania Railroad number "9852" in June of 1952 and renumbered "4352" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. #1514 is an F7A built as PRR number "9814" in April of 1951 and renumbered "1514" in for the merger. In this context, they're pulling some empty hopper cars up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. Looks to me like both locomotives have seen better days! ("Tchowee"; #2 of 2)

Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #4367 is an FP-7A built for the Pennsylvania Railroad as number "9867" in August of 1952 and renumbered "4367" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. #1712 is an F7A built for the New York Central Railroad in March of 1952. Description:  Lorenz. Here is a photo via Bob Lorenz that was taken in Marysville, Pennsylvania, in 1968. Shown here (R to L) are Penn Central engines #1904 and #2513. #1904 is an F7A built by GM-EMD for the Pennsylvania Railroad as number "9660" in March of 1950, rated at 1,500 horsepower, and renumbered "1904" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. #2513 is a U25B constructed for the New York Central Railroad as number "2513" in May of 1964 and rated at 2,250 horsepower. In this context, they're pulling a manifest freight out of Conway to the Enola Yards. Just beyond those houses is the left-to-right flowing Susquehanna River. (Gift from Brad Mann.)
