Top Right Photo Caption: "R-1 4800, later renumbered, hit an authentic 120 mph on test but was not successful enough otherwise to warrant duplication." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4800, the R-1 (2-D-2) built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in September of 1934, rated at 5,000 horsepower, renumbered "4899" in 1934, renumbered "4999" in 1940, and retired in October of 1956. |

Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4896 and New Haven engine #360. #4896 is a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata during April of 1940 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. #360 is an EP-4 (2-C-C-2) built by General Electric in May of 1938.
