Prophet. Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 4930." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "Loaded with head-end revenue express cars, Pennsylvania RR GG-1 #4930 rolls through Leaman Place, PA, with a westbound passenger express. They looked kinda' black, but they were a special dark green, Brunswich Green, don'tcha know. 1962 photo." Photo by John M. Prophet III. #4930 is a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata during February of 1943, rated at 4,620 horsepower, and retired by the Penn Central Railroad in December of 1968 after 25 years of faithful service. The exact date is not recorded.

It has just arrived at the Harrisburg Station with a 17-car passenger train from New York City heading to Altoona, Pittsburgh, and points West. The time is 5:15 P.M.

Newark. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train near Newark, Delaware, during August of 1965. Shown here is PRR engine #4935, a GG-1 built in Juniata during March of 1943. It has just departed Wilmington on its way South to Baltimore and Washington with an 11-car passenger train. The white milepost indicates that it is 35 miles by rail to Philadelphia. #4935 is now on exhibit at the Railroad Museum of Pennsylvania is Strasburg, Pennsylvania.
