Title:
PRR 6760, M-1B, #1 of 2, 1956
Description:
TRB. Here is the first of two successive 35mm color slides of photos by John M. Prophet III that were taken at the Rockville Bridge near Rockville, Pennsylvania, in October of 1956. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6760 and #6948. #6760 is an M-1B built in Juniata as an M-1A in July of 1930, rebuilt as an M-1B in May of 1948, and retired in September of 1959. #6948 is an M-1 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works in December of 1926 and retired in September of 1959. They're just passing ROCKVILLE Tower and are about to cross the Bridge with an iron-ore train bound for the steel mills of Western Pennsylvania.
