Shown here (R to L) are PRR engine #2509 and two more "U-Boats" whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by General Electric and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #2509 was constructed in September of 1962. The photographer's name, the exact date, and the location are not recorded. (#3,500)

Top Photo Caption: "Trio of new GF-25's go to work, hauling trainload of iron ore on the main line near Newport, Pa." Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engines #2509 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are GF-25's built by General Electric and rated at 2,500 horsepower each. #2509 was constructed in September of 1962. Bottom Right Photo Caption: "At Enola, Pa., Electrician R.M. Herr inserts headlight bulb on an AF-24 locomotive." Partially visible here is PRR engine #2400, an AF-24 built by the American Locomotive Company in October of 1962 and rated at 2,400 horsepower.
