Title:
PRR 6027, EF-25A, 1966
Description:
Winter Day. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in February of 1966. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6027, #6506, and #6026. All are rated at 2,500 horsepower. #6027 and #6026 are EF-25A's built by GM-EMD in April of 1965, while #6506 is a GF-25A built by General Electric in April of 1965. They've just passed under the 7th Street Bridge and are about to enter the Eastbound Receiving Yard with a fully-loaded mineral train. The venerable black water tower ~ last vestige of the Age of Steam in this part of town ~ stands silently at the right.
