Title:
PRR 2230, EF-22, 1964
Description:
17th Street. Here is an original photo that I took of Pennsylvania Railroad trains in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 25 April 1964. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #2230, #7044, #2208, and #2219. All were built by EMD. #2230, #2208, and #2219 are EF-22's built in 1963 and rated at 2,250 horsepower each. #7044 is an EFS-17M built in 1955 and rated at 1,750 horsepower. They are passing under the 17th Street Bridge with a 48-car merchandise freight on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. The caboose is number #477714.
