Here is page six of a 22-page booklet published by the Pennsylvania Railroad entitled "Modern Power For Today's Trains." It was issued originally during July of 1949. Partial Caption: "For fast, through passenger service." Prominent here is PRR engine #5755, an AFP-20 built by the American Locomotive Company as an AP-20 in November of 1947, rated at 2,000 horsepower, later regeared and reclassified as an AFP-20, and retired in September of 1962 after just 15 years of revenue service.

Description:
FM. Here is an image of a photo by Fred McLeod that was taken near Lewistown, Pennsylvania, on 9 July 1949. Shown here (L to R) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5755 and a "B" unit whose number is not recorded. Both are AP-20's built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5755 was built in November of 1947 as an AP-20, regeared and reclassified as an AFP-20, and retired in September of 1962 after just 15 years of revenue service. This image comes from a B&W slide set entitled "Horseshoe Curve, Pennsylvania Railroad" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa. William E. Burket Collection.

Description:
Here is a full-page advertisement for American Locomotive Company products which was published originally in the February 1953 issue of "Trains & Travel" magazine, page 4. Top Photo, Partial Caption: "When the Pennsylvania Railroad played such a prominent part in the movement of troops and munitions during the Civil War, one of its most powerful locomotives was No. 234." PRR engine #234 is a 4-6-0 "Mogul" built by the Rogers Locomotive Company during 1862 and retired in January of 1880. Bottom Photo, Partial Caption: "Here ALCO-GE motive power speeds a long passenger train through the Pennsy's famous Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pa." PRR engine #5755 is an AP-20 built by ALCo in November of 1947, rated at 2,000 horsepower, later regeared & reclassified as an AFP-20, and retired in September of 1962.

TRB. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Bill Price that was taken at the Rockville Bridge near Marysville, Pennsylvania, on 28 October 1954. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5755 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All are AP-20's built by the American Locomotive Company and rated at 2,000 horsepower each. #5755 was built in November of 1947 and retired in September of 1962 after just 15 years of revenue service. In this context, they are pulling a mixed-cargo freight train and are about to cross the Bridge from West to East.
