PRR 2299, EF-25, 1965 |
Description: |
Slope to Works. Here is an original photo that I took in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 6 June 1965. Shown here (R to L) is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2299 and two more units whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #2299 is an EF-25 constructed in November of 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They're about to pass under the 24th Street Bridge with a fully-loaded coal train on its way to the Eastbound Receiving Yards in Altoona. Note the brake shoe smoke! (#3 of 44) |

Winter Night. Here is an original telephoto view that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Altoona, Pennsylvania, during February of 1966. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #2299, #2656, and another unit whose number is not recorded. #2299 is an EF-25 built by EMD in 1964 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. #2656 is a GF-25 built by General Electric in 1965 and rated at 2,500 horsepower. They are pulling a mixed-cargo freight train, and are about to pass the Altoona Station on their way up the Allegheny Mountians via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. |
