Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #4616 and #4243. They're stopped on the 1.3% upgrade near Locust Gap with a 9,000-ton iron-ore train. The slide's caption indicates that the train stopped due to a "broken coupler knuckle" on one of the hopper cars! This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Steam on the Pennsy's Elmira and Shamokin Branches" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (785-36).
