Huntingdon. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Bill Price that was taken near Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, on 7 October 1946. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #623, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during July of 1917 and retired in May of 1948 after 31 years of faithful service. In this context, it's pulling an eastbound troop train. Note the trainphone apparatus on the tender's deck. Wave to the Engineman! (SPM)

PRR 6962, M-1, #1 of 2, 1946
Description:
Huntingdon. Here is the first of two successive duplicate 35mm color slides of photos by Bill Price that were taken near Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, on 7 October 1946. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6962, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1926 and retired in January of 1950 after 24 years of faithful service. It is pulling an eastbound consist of refrigerator cars, and is presently at the Huntingdon Icing Plant where all of the cars are being replenished with ice. Note the flagmen atop the cars, where they can signal the engineman to move the train forward little by little.

Huntingdon. Here is the second of two successive duplicate 35mm color slides of photos by Bill Price that were taken near Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, on 7 October 1946. At the right is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6962, an M-1 (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during December of 1926 and retired in January of 1950. Pulling an eastbound troop train at the left is PRR engine #3747, a K-4S (4-6-2) "Pacific" built in Juniata during March of 1920 and retired in November of 1957.
