Here is the second of eight original photos by an unidentified photographer that were taken at the Horseshoe Curve near Altoona, Pennsylvania, c. 1957. Shown here (L to R) is PRR engine #2001 and another unit whose road number is not recorded. #2001 is a BF-16 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in June of 1951 and rated at 1,600 horsepower, later rebuilt as an ABF-18 rated at 1,800 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after 15 years of revenue service. They're pulling a mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West. |

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5825, a BH-50 built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as a BP-60 rated at 3,000 horsepower in May of 1947, later regeared and reclassified as a BH-50 rated at 2,500 horsepower, and retired in April of 1962 after just 15 years of revenue service. It ~ along with its unidentified semi-permanently-coupled mate ~ is being returned to East Altoona for further assignment after making a helper/pusher run up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin. |

They're rounding the Curve with a mineral train, and are about to pass under four-track Signal Bridge #2416/7 on their way down the Allegheny Mountains to Altoona's Eastbound Receiving Yards. |
