Here is page one of a six-page article by Bert Pennypacker entitled "Atterbury's Engines: Part 2 ~ Why The M-1's Outlasted The Duplex Drives." It was published originally in the November 1979 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 44. Top Photo: Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6769, an M-1A (4-8-2) "Mountain" built in Juniata during September of 1930 and retired in August of 1955. Bottom Photo Caption: "Trailing literally a mile of stock and refrigerator cars, M-1a 6739 comes off the Rockville Bridge over the Susquehanna River, bound for Altoona under a canopy of smoke." Shown here is PRR engine #6739, an M-1B (4-8-2) "Mountain" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works as an M-1A in June of 1930, rebuilt in Juniata as an M-1B by 1953, and retired in April of 1958.
