"Mass-Production Ten-Wheeler," Page 23, 1973
Here is page four of a nine-page cover article by Bert Pennypacker entitled "The Mass-Production Ten-Wheeler." It was published originally in the October 1973 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 23. Photo Caption: "You can almost smell the grease, metal, and smoke and you can almost hear the blower, pumps, and turbogenerator as Pennsy G-5s No. 5720 pants in her stall at the Camden (N.J.) roundhouse in October 1954. Photographer Don Wood terms this one of his three all-time-favorite rail photos." Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5720, a G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler" built in Juniata during September of 1924.
