Teller, "Mass Transportation," 1955
Here is the 30th of 32 color prints of calendar art works that were commissioned by the Pennsylvania Railroad from 1925 through 1958. Shown here is Grif Teller's painting entitled "Mass Transportation." It was published originally in 1955. Depicted here are no fewer than a dozen Pennsylvania Railroad GG-1 (2-C-C-2) electric locomotives rated at 4,620 horsepower each. In the foreground is PRR engine #4814 that was built by General Electric during August of 1935 and retired in May of 1967. Also depicted is PRR engine #4829 constructed in Juniata during June of 1935 and retired in July of 1969. In this context, they're all supporting the annual Army-Navy Football Game.
