PC 4352, FP7A, 1969
PC Power. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide by an unidentified photographer that was taken near Altoona, Pennsylvania, during April of 1969. Shown here (L to R) are Penn Central engines #4352 and #1514. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,500 horsepower each. #4352 is an FP7A built as Pennsylvania Railroad number "9852" in June of 1952 and renumbered "4352" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. #1514 is an F7A built as PRR number "9814" in April of 1951 and renumbered "1514" in for the merger. In this context, they're pulling some empty hopper cars up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West. Looks to me like they've both seen better days! ("Tchowee"; #2 of 2)
