"Fountain Inn," 1909
Muleshoe. Here is a postal card entitled "Fountain Inn ~ Altoona, Pa." Postmarked: 1 March 1909. This establishment was located just West of the Muleshoe Curve. It was built during the mid-1800's and served as a stagecoach stop on the Harrisburg-Pittsburgh Post Road, what's now old US Route 22. Legend has it that the Inn had a large fresh-water pond stocked with rainbow trout!
