"Strasburg Rail Road," Page 19, 1969
Here is page two of a four-page camera study by William Moedinger entitled "Strasburg Rail Road." It was published originally in the May 1969 issue of "Railroad" magazine, page 19. Bottom Photo, Partial Caption: "Dependable 0-6-0 No. 31 is seen here with a westbound train of four wooden coaches." SRC engine #31 was built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during August of 1908. According to Gary Everhart, "it has worn several numbers through the years": originally it was Grand Trunk Western's #1708; then Canadian National's #7157 circa 1923, renumbered CN #7240 in 1952, and renumbered CN #7312 in 1957; then purchased, reconditioned, and renumbered SRC #31 in 1960 ~ some 52 years after it first hit the rails!
