"The Steam Turbine," Page 14, 1947         
Here is page one of a five-page article by Charles Kerr, Jr., entitled "The Steam Turbine: Coal's New Hope." It was published originally in the June 1947 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 14. Partial Caption: "The entire power output comes from the small turbine between the second and third drivers, eliminating main rods." Shown here is the tender belonging to Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6200, the S-2 (6-8-6) "Steam Turbine" built by the Baldwin Locomotive Works during September of 1944, rated at 6,900 horsepower, and retired in January of 1952 after just eight years of revenue service.
