PRR "Horse Shoe Curve," 1907         
Here is a postal card entitled "Horse Shoe Curve ~ Penna. R.R." Postmarked: 23 May 1907. The photographer is not identified. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #348, an H-6 (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built in the Altoona Machine Shops during September of 1899, renumbered "2004" in March of 1924, and retired in July of 1926 after 27 years of faithful service. It's hauling a mixed-cargo freight train around the Curve and down the Allegheny Mountains to the Eastbound Receiving Yards in Altoona.
