PRR 7149, EFS-17M, 1960
Sweetland. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by David R. Sweetland that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, in May of 1960. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #7164 and five more "Geeps" whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7149 was built in November of 1957. They have just passed under the 24th Street Bridge, and are now threading the interlocking on their way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West with a fully-loaded mineral train. The smoke plumes in the distance pinpoint the Brick Plant.
