NST. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 30 August 1953. Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6421, a J-1A (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during July of 1943 and retired in April of 1958. It is pulling a mixed-cargo freight train under the 24th Street Bridge on its way up the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Gallitzin and points West.
