Description:  Here is a photo of an unidentified G-5S (4-6-0) "Ten-Wheeler" built in Juniata for the Long Island Rail Road. The photographer's name, the locomotive's road number, as well as the exact date and the location, are not recorded. Henry C. Westenberger Collection; #15 of 29.

Description:  Kern. Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 5849." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "A passenger train, with E-7 5849 up front, heads west after crossing the Rockville Bridge into Marysville, Pa. A freight is ready to cross the stone arch bridge and continue east. Enola, location of the large Pennsy yard, is a short distance to the right of the photo. October 20, 1957." Photo by Fred Kern. Pennsylvania Railroad engine #5849 is an EP-20 built by GM-EMD in August of 1947 and rated at 2,000 horsepower. The eastbound freight train is headed by PRR engine #9662, an EF-15A built by GM-EMD in February of 1950 and rated at 1,500 horsepower.

Description:  Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 6448." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "Southbound freight at Worthington, Ohio, June 10, 1956, has big Pennsy J class power. Altoona Shops turned out 125 of these Texas type 2-10-4's from 1942 to 1944 based on a Chesapeake & Ohio T-1 design. The J's worked the line with leased Santa Fe 2-10-4's the summer of '56. Photo by Joseph Stark." #6448 is a J-1 (2-10-4) "Texas" built in Juniata during November of 1943.

Description:  Here is a postal card entitled "Pennsylvania 8382." No Postmark. Caption On Reverse: "Consolidation 8382 at Indianapolis, Indiana. At one time in the 1920's, the Pennsylvania R.R. had 3,335 of these 2-8-0's on the roster." Photo by Tom Hall. #8382 is an H-10S (2-8-0) "Consolidated" built by the American Locomotive Company during August of 1916 and retired in November of 1957 after 41 years of service.

Shown here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #2006, a BF-16 built by Baldwin-Lima-Hamilton in August of 1951, rated at 1,600 horsepower, and retired in July of 1966 after just 15 years of revenue service.

Description:  PFJ. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken at Frankford Junction near Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on 13 September 1952. At the left is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #4912, a GG-1 (2-C-C-2) built in Juniata during January of 1942 and rated at 4,620 horsepower. It has just departed 30th Street Station on its way to Trenton and New York City. At the right (L to R) are PRR engines #4788 and #4781. Both are P-5A (2-C-2) modifides built in Juniata and rated at 3,750 horsepower each; #4788 was built in February of 1935, but #4781 was out-shopped one month earlier.

All are EFS-17M's built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7076 was constructed in November of 1956.

Description:  Kern. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide of a photo by Fred Kern that was taken near Perdix, Pennsylvania, on 2 October 1966. Shown here (L to R) are Pennsylvania Railroad engine #9849 and two "Geeps" whose road numbers are not recorded. All were built by GM-EMD. #9849 is an EFP-15 built in May of 1952 and rated at 1,500 horsepower. That's BANKS Tower in the middle distance; Blue Mountain dominates the background; between them (though not visible) is the mighty Susquehanna River flowing from left to right on its merry way to Chesapeake Bay and the Atlantic Ocean.
