"The Lima Story," Page 16, 1952 |
Description: |
Here is page five of a ten-page article by David P. Morgan entitled "The Lima Story:1 ~ Super-Power." It was published originally in the January 1952 issue of "Trains & Travel" magazine, page 16. Photo Caption: "The A-1, Lima's precedent-breaking 2-8-4, is still going strong as the Illinois Central's No. 8049, even though her Elesco feedwater heater is absent and her air pump shields are missing. The squared sand dome, introduced by the big Berkshire, eventually becomes a standard part of all IC power." |

"The Lima Story," Page 17, 1952 |
Description: |
Here is page six of a ten-page article by David P. Morgan entitled "The Lima Story:1 ~ Super-Power." It was published originally in the January 1952 issue of "Trains & Travel" magazine, page 17. Photo Caption: "The most successful steam demonstrator ever built as she looked when new at Lima in 1925. While the engine was originally fitted with footboards, a temporary wooden pilot (as shown on page 13) was applied for road tests. Firebox was so large that it necessitated the use of a four-wheel trailer." |
