Description:  Byerly. Here is a duplicate 35mm color slide via Fred Byerly that was taken in East Peoria, Illinois, c. 1967. The photographer is not identified. Photo Caption: "EMD GP-9B #3808, 1750-hp, at East Peoria, Ill." Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #3808-B and #7269. Both are EFS-17M road switchers built by GM-EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #3808-B was built as number "7183-B" in November of 1957 and renumbered "3808-B" in preparation for the PRR-NYC merger. #7269 was built in December of 1959 and was the very last GP-9 purchased by the PRR. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Diesels On The Pennsylvania" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (819-53).

Description:  Here is a photo taken by Mr. John G. Williams, Jr. It was published originally in the April 1968 issue of "Trains" magazine, page 8. Partial Caption: "On Merger Day plus 10, a westbound Penn Central freight ascends Horse Shoe Curve behind a locomotive team consisting of freshly repainted EMD SD-40 6056 and unrelettered ex-PRR Geep calves. Initially at least, new 'two worms in love' PC logo is eing carried in white on nose and flanks." Shown here (L to R) are Penn Central engines #6056, #3816-B, and #3835-B. All were built by GM-EMD for the Pennsylvania Railroad. #6056 is an SD40 built in February of 1966 and rated at 3,000 horsepower. #3816 and #3835 are both GP9 B-units rated at 1,750 horsepower each; #3816 was built in November of 1957, while #3835 was constructed in October of 1959.

Description:  Gallitzin. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train in Gallitzin, Pennsylvania, on 13 September 1964. Shown here (R to L) are PRR engines #7110, #7180-B, #7015, and #7185. All are EFS-17M's built by EMD and rated at 1,750 horsepower each. #7110, #7180-B, and #7185 were built in 1957 ~ but #7015 was built in 1955. They are about to pass under the State Route 53 Bridge with a 97-car coal train on its way down the Allegheny Mountains via the Horseshoe Curve to Altoona and points East. The caboose is #477746. There are also three EMD units coupled to the end of this train, their purpose being to help brake the train on its way down the Mountains.
