Description:  Amtrak. Here is the third of six successive original photos that I took at the Virginia Railway Express L'Enfant Plaza Passenger Station in Southeast Washington, DC, on 20 June 1992. Approaching here is an Amtrak passenger train pulled by engine #206, an F40PH built by GM-EMD in July of 1976 and rated at 3,200 horsepower. This train has just departed Union Station and has roared through the tunnels under Washington's streets on its way to Richmond and points South.

Description:  Here is the front side of a "Vanishing Vistas" portrait that was published by Richard E. Cox Enterprises in 1984. Photo by Mr. William E. Hopkins. Shown here (L to R) are Amtrak engines #363 and #351. Both were built by GM-EMD and rated at 3,000 horsepower each. #363 is an F40PHR built in April of 1981, while #351 is an F40PH built in November of 1980. They're pulling Amtrak's version of the once-fabled "Broadway Limited" near Millerstown, Pennsylvania, in July of 1981.
