Altoona Action. Here is an original 35mm color slide by James C. Herold that was taken in Altoona, Pennsylvania, on 15 July 1967. Shown here (R to L) are Pennsylvania Railroad engines #6122 and #6163. Both are EF-36's built by GM-EMD and rated at 3,600 horsepower each. #6122 was constructed in October of 1966, while #6163 was built in January of 1967. In this context, they're rockin' 'n' rollin' past the old East Altoona Coaling Tipple with a westbound manifest freight train.

Mid-Mountain. Here is an original photo that I took of a Pennsylvania Railroad train West of Altoona, Pennsylvania, during mid-December of 1967. Shown here (L to R) are PRR engines #6124 and three other units whose numbers were not recorded. All were built by EMD. #6124 is an EF-36 built in 1966 and rated at 3,600 horsepower. They are pulling a westbound mixed-cargo freight train up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West.

Prominent here is Pennsylvania Railroad engine #6126, an EF-36 built by GM-EMD in November of 1966 and rated at 3,600 horsepower. In this context, it's powering a manifest freight train around the Curve and up the Allegheny Mountains to Gallitzin and points West.

Both are EF-36's built by GM-EMD and rated at 3,600 horsepower each. #6144 was constructed in January of 1967 and, as such, was one of the last locomotives produced for and delivered to the Pennsy before the PRR-NYC merger on 1 February 1968. This photo comes from a color slide set entitled "Diesels On The Pennsylvania" that's produced and distributed by Blackhawk Films of Davenport, Iowa (819-60).
