Shown here is a portion of the storage yard at the Pennsylvania Railroad's Erecting & Machine Shop. The central section of the Shop is visible in the background. Here is page 15 of a 17-page version of the Pennsylvania Railroad's 13-page booklet entitled "Altoona Shops Inspection Trip ~ Sunday, May 16, 1937." It appeared in the September 1981 issue of "The Keystone" magazine, page 18. Top Photo, Partial Caption: "From a 'Fan's' perspective, E-3sd No. 5011 was perhaps the most interesting locomotive on display at Altoona. No. 5011 was one of the few, and very likely the only, E-3sd's to retain the old style cylinders while being equipped with the new steel pilot beam." #5011 is an E-3SD (4-4-2) "Atlantic" built in Juniata as an E-3D in February of 1910, rebuilt as an E-3SD in June of 1913, and retired in April of 1940.
